Great show, as expected!
John & Robby were incredibly engaging with the audience, more so than I have seen previously. The setting may have contributed to this, as the audience was extremely respectful of the band. The opening band “The Rocket Summer” was an unexpected delight. Sadly, many attendees arrived after the opening act had finished, missing out on another stellar performance! Overall, this event was top-notch, from the venue to the opening band, to the headliner. The price of admission was definitely justified!
I have attended the Iconic - Legends of Song multiple times. Usually at more of a "rock" venue like House of Blues, so I was uncertain about the plush seats & “formal” atmosphere of the Charleston PAC. But my worries were unfounded, as the audience remained on their feet throughout the show and the band ensured we had plenty to dance and sing along to. It wasn’t the wild, rowdy crowd with abundant alcohol that I had encountered previously. Surprisingly, both the show and crowd interaction exceeded my expectations. It's proof that a "rock show" can thrive in an upscale setting!
If you haven't experienced the Iconic - Legends of Song in concert yet, I highly recommend it. And if you have seen them before, you won't be let down! Johnny owned the stage while Robby shined as the frontman for several songs. They showcased 3-4 tracks from their upcoming CD release (slated for July?), one of which is destined to be a hit. While they stayed true to their "standards," they extended many songs for an engaging live experience with enthusiastic audience participation. Johnny was particularly interactive with the crowd, clearly enjoying every moment. Even during brief exchanges with the sound crew offstage, his grin was infectious. I hope they cherish their Charleston performance on that lovely April evening in 2026, as the audience surely will for years to come.
